The VL53L5CX is an advanced time-of-flight (ToF) multi-area ranging sensor. It supports ranging, presence detection, proximity detection, ambient light detection, reflectance detection, multi-region detection, and 3D detection. It features an 8x8 multi-zone distance measurement capability with a 63° wide diagonal field of view, adjustable via software. Utilizing STMicroelectronics’ patented histogram algorithm, it enables reliable object detection within the field of view and suppresses cover slip crosstalk beyond 60 cm. Built on STMicroelectronics’ latest generation of direct ToF technology, the sensor delivers absolute distance measurements independent of target color or reflectance. It provides accurate ranging up to 400 cm and operates at high speed (up to 60 Hz), making it one of the fastest multi-zone miniature ToF sensors available. Optical cover sheet (VL53L5X V2) enhances measurement accuracy while providing dust protection and extending sensor lifespan.
