It supports data rates up to 5 Mbit/s and ensures low operating and sleeping current. The SC16IS750 and SC16IS760 include 8 additional programmable I/O pins. The device is available in compact HVQFN24, TSSOP24 (SC16IS750/760), and TSSOP16 (SC16IS740) packages, making it ideal for handheld and battery-powered applications. This product family enables seamless protocol conversion between I2C-bus or SPI and RS-232/RS-485, with full bidirectional communication.The SC16IS760 supports SPI clock speeds up to 15 Mbit/s, compared to 4 Mbit/s on the SC16IS750, and includes IrDA SIR support up to 1.152 Mbit/s. Otherwise, the SC16IS760 is functionally and electrically identical to the SC16IS750. The SC16IS740 is functionally and electrically identical to the SC16IS750, except that it does not include the programmable I/O pins.The internal register set of the SC16IS740/750/760 is backward-compatible with the widely used 16C450 UART, simplifying software development and porting across platforms.Additional advanced features include auto hardware and software flow control, automatic RS-485 support, and software reset, allowing the UART to be reset at any time through software without requiring a hardware reset signal.
